THE BAKER COUNTY YMCA JOINS THE
FIVE DAYS OF ACTION®TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL ABUSE

BAKER CITY, OREGON –  The Baker County YMCA is proud to participate in the Five Days of Action®, a national campaign taking place April 21–25, 2025, focused on raising awareness and inspiring adults to take action to protect children from sexual abuse. Throughout the week, the YMCA will be encouraging members to sign pledge cards—a visual reminder of our community’s shared commitment to child safety—and we’ll be decorating our facility halls with them. In addition, we’ll be providing education for members, volunteers, and staff on how to "Know, See, and Respond" to prevent child sexual abuse and recognize the signs. With summer camps and youth programs just around the corner, this is the perfect time to reinforce our community's responsibility to create safer environments for all children.

“The children of Baker County have the right to a happy and safe childhood. It's our responsibility as adults and organizations to stand up to protect that right,” said Madison Hatfield, Media Specialist & Swim Instructor at the Baker County YMCA. “By joining in the Five Days of Action campaign, we hope to inspire other organizations and community members to create safe spaces that protect children from sexual abuse.”

Participation is open to all organizations—YMCAs and beyond.

You don’t have to be a YMCA to participate in the Five Days of Action. The YMCA invites all youth-serving organizations and individuals to join this movement by registering and utilizing the free campaign resources.
