WELCOME TO THE
BAKER COUNTY YMCA!

For over 50 years, the Baker County YMCA has been a cornerstone of our rural communities in Baker and Union County. Our journey began in 1972, sparked by a conversation between Beth and Patrick Morrissey, a couple driven by a shared vision. Beth, concerned for local youth loitering without purpose, envisioned a space where they could be active and engaged. The Morrisseys, considering the limited options for unorganized youth activities, embarked on a mission.

Supported by a generous donation from Sig Ellingson and the community's banks, they established a YMCA dedicated to fostering Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. In 1983, the Sam-O Swim Center became a reality, providing a public swimming facility that remains a testament to our commitment to community well-being.

Today, we continue to evolve, seeking partnerships with nonprofits, schools, churches, and businesses. Our cause-driven organization invests in youth, health, and community connections. The YMCA isn't just a place; it's a collective effort to create opportunities for everyone, regardless of age, income, or background. As we navigate the present and look towards the future, our commitment to empowering individuals, strengthening families, and building a healthier, more connected community remains unwavering.

Join us in this journey of positive change. Together, we are the
