Our youth programs promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, the value of participation over winning, and team building. The Baker County YMCA’s Barracudas Swim Team is a comprehensive developmental training program that is planned and administered by professional coaches who are dedicated to building the finest program in the nation. We offer training practices five days a week year round. Swimmers are placed in groups by coaches according to age, skill level, and commitment.

The Barracudas Swim Team is a traveling competitive swim team, and you can choose how many swim meets you want to attend. There are many year-round opportunities to compete. This competitive swim team hosts and attends USA swim meets. Click Here for more information.


Lifeguard Training provides youth with a variety of certifications making them qualified to work as a lifeguard. Graduates of the training may apply for Lifeguard positions at the Y! Click Here for more information.



Group Fitness

All YMCA Group Fitness classes are available to children over the age of ten, so long as a parent or guardian is present in the facility. That means they have access to any one of the Y’s 70+ Group Fitness Classes each week!

Youth Strength Training

Once a month, we have an orientation for 10-14-year-olds to prepare them for Fitness Center use. The orientation is done in a fun, educational way, with students going through an actual work-out together! For ages 8+, the Y offers a year-round Karate program that will take students all the way through to their black belt. Our devoted team of instructors is committed to helping you or your children succeed and develop the discipline and skill necessary to master Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate. Each and every year our fantastic YMCA Preschool team instills a lifelong love of learning in 60 little ones! Registration begins in April each year, with rolling admissions available based on availability. Financial Assistance is available!


S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! Our Youth Programs Director Megan Pelcha offers this program each Summer as a part of our Summer Day camp schedule. Participants can expect to be challenged with fun experiments that build critical thinking skills.

Wee Learn and Grow

Designed for the tiny tots of our community, Wee Learn and Grow provides a great opportunity to get the little ones in your life out moving, creating, and learning! This program is offered during the summer.

Video Production

The Video Production Camp combines both the modern generation’s innate technological aptitude and their love of cinematic pastimes to provide youth with a more profound knowledge and understanding of the film-making process. Activities are designed to encourage imagination and develop strong spatial reasoning. Campers will utilize both live-action filming and stop-frame animation.

aquaticsAt the Y, we want to ensure that all youth, adults, and families can participate in Y membership and programs, regardless of their ability to pay. We accept cash donations and appreciate all of our generous volunteers. You can donate new and gently used kids sports equipment and shoes through our Play It Forward program.
