KID ZONE

So you can workout

Welcome to the Baker County YMCA Kid Zone!

Children who are on a family membership can come to Kid Zone while you workout. Trained and certified staff will keep your little ones safe and entertained while you get in that lifting routine, run, or enjoy one of our many group fitness classes! To best utilize this service it is important to register your child/children each month and schedule a visit for the times you wish to use Kid Zone.  This can be done online, by phone, or by coming in to The Welcome Center. Yoga for woman and child

Kid Zone Guidelines

Each parent must check in his/her own child with the Kid Zone staff. If a different adult is to check out, arrangements should be made at check in.

Parents must stay on YMCA premises.

Parents are required to provide contact information when checking in children.

Kid Zone is available free for children on Family Memberships. Children of members with individual memberships and non-members visiting our Y may participate for $4.00 per child per day. During peak times we reserve the right to limit the number of babies and children due to staffing, age of children, and space/supervision capacity.

Length of Visits

Supervised care is provided for children ages 1 to 9 years old.  Our Kid Zone has a 10-minute cry rule. Our staff is well accustomed to comforting and/or distracting distraught children, however, if after 10 minutes they are still inconsolable, the parent will be asked to return for the child.

Special Needs Children

The YMCA will make every reasonable accommodation possible for children with special needs. It is best that you communicate in advance to make staff aware of your child’s needs.

Behavior Expectations

Children will be expected to:

  • Keep their hands and feet to themselves
  • Use their inside voice
  • Follow directions
  • Take care of toys and equipment
  • Treat others the way they want to be treated
  • Have FUN!

The YMCA reserves the right to refuse service to members whose children are disruptive to the Kid Zone environment.

Diapers and Toilet Training
  • Parents are responsible for changing diapers.
  • If your child is in the process of toilet training, please bring them in pull-ups while they are here. (18 months – 3 years old)

The YMCA facility is for your enjoyment. Members and their guests use the facility and equipment at their own risk. Parents must assume full responsibility for their own children.

Illness

For the protection of all children, the following guidelines have been adopted in accordance with the report for the committee to control infectious diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A child may not participate in Kid Zone if any of the following exists and must be symptom-free for 24 hours.

  • Fever
  • Vomiting/diarrhea
  • Any symptom of normal childhood diseases such as mumps or chicken pox
  • Common Cold from onset through 1 week
  • A sore throat
  • Croup
  • Any unexplained rash
  • Any skin infection: ringworm, impetigo, boils
  • Yellow/Green nasal discharge
  • Pink eye
  • Lice
Evacuation

In the event of a building evacuation, the Y staff will assist caregivers in taking the children out the assigned emergency exit. During the evacuation stage, parents will not be allowed to check their children out until all enrolled children have been accounted for outside. Parents, please evacuate through the proper exits. YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY.

Helpful Tips For an Enjoyable Experience

Before you check your child into Kid Zone, be sure your child is prepared to enjoy their stay.

  • Children should not be hungry.
  • Diapers should be clean.
  • Children should be taken to the bathroom prior to checking in.
  • Please do not bring a child during his/her nap time.

Also,

  • If you will be attending a group fitness class, try to show up a few minutes prior to the beginning of the class so as to ensure that you can drop off your child and not miss any of the class.
  • There are caps for how many children can be checked in to Kid Zone at one time, and we function on first-come, first-served basis. If you think Kid Zone may be busy, try to show up early to ensure we have space for you!
